Stress to Stewardship

When you make God your source in all matters, you are released from the stress of ownership.

I found this definition of the biblical world view of stewardship as: “Utilizing and managing all resources God provides for His glory and the betterment of His creation. The central essence of biblical world view stewardship is managing everything God brings into the believer’s life in a manner that honors God.”

When we give up ownership of our limited supply, we can then become managers of God’s unlimited supply. God is generous and we are representing Him.

He does not want us to use the good stewardship term as a cheapskate card.

If you are in business, pay your people well and your business will flourish. God is using you as their source. How can an employee help grow your business when their focus is on trying to make ends meet?

You can be frugal with yourself, but always be generous with others.

When dining out be generous with your server, even if your service is not up to par. Forgo the soft drink or appetizer, if need be, and leave that extra few dollars to the one serving you. People are the mission and God is using you to bless them.

When you are prompted to an act of benevolence – never lend to the one in need. God has blessed you so that you are able to freely give.

A mature Christian knows that God is their source, and He is just using you to help in their time of need.

But you never want a new believer to look at you as their source. There are two ways you can handle this. One being, if they need financial help immediately, then give and tell them to pay it forward. This releases them from making excuses, avoiding you or trying to pay you back.

The second scenario is, if it is not immediate help they are in need of, you can help them anonymously. Give an envelope to a Pastor with your friend’s name on it and let them give it. It releases a burden from everyone. Proverbs 19:17 “Mercy to the needy is a loan to God, and God pays back those loans in full.”

God sends increase to those that can be trusted – so they can do even greater acts of benevolence.

Never keep your eye on the gift after it’s given, whether it’s to an individual or an organization.  That is God’s job.

Many times, someone in need will not do the right thing with the gift. We must remember if they always did the right thing they probably would not be in need. Let God teach them, you be obedient to the Spirit. Your blessing does not depend on what they do, but on what you do!!

Also, seek Godly council on major purchases for yourself. Never buy a big-ticket item you were not shopping for. Even if this deal is only available today or for the next hour and it will never be available again, do not give in!

Overcome the “Fear Of Missing Out”!

There will always be another deal. Do your research and PRAY!

Avoid all “get rich quick” schemes.  It appeals to our greed and causes us to silence God’s voice. So many have fallen victim to this. It is always expensive and can be a devastating lesson to learn by experience.

Finally, do not fall into the envy trap.  Ask God to give you everything He has for you.

We are all on different journeys with different gifts and skill sets. Proverbs says to take joy in your toil.

Be good stewards of what God has given you and be a blessing to others.

You cannot outgive God!!
