If anyone lacks wisdom

Let them ask God

who gives freely

without judging

Why is the Fear of the LORD the Beginning of Wisdom?

The fear of the Lord is simply understanding that there is a God and you’re not Him.

A small child fears his father. Not that his father would hurt him, but he knows his father has a lot more knowledge and wisdom than he does. He respects his father enough to trust him. He knows his father loves him and wants to teach him how to apply the knowledge he is learning to live a better life. Wisdom is knowledge that doesn’t change and can be applied in every situation.

There are two ways to succeed. Option one is to be a know it all and learn as we go! Success comes from making a series of good decisions. Good decision making comes from experience. Experience comes from bad decision making. Unfortunately, that is the path most of us follow!

Option two, is to be willing to face our inadequacies and learn from the mistakes and success of others. Who better to give us the knowledge we need and the ability to apply that knowledge than God?

So, the beginning of wisdom is to not only to admit we have inadequacies but be willing to let go of beliefs we cling to, that enable us to justify those inadequacies. When we start trusting God with our inadequacies, He is faithful to show us the truth that will free us from them. We must face ourselves! We must be teachable and trust that God is wiser than we are. We should be in “AWE” that He is willing to give His wisdom to anyone that asks for it without judging them.

Gods’ wisdom will move us to a better mental and emotional neighborhood. We go from the selfish taker, with less than enough, survival neighborhood. To the generous giver more than enough abundant life neighborhood without changing our location. We get to know God as loving Father, Mentor, Friend and Source. We learn that when He tells us to do something, It’s for our benefit, not His. The book of proverbs is a great place to gain wisdom. It has 31 short chapters. We can coordinate each chapter with a calendar date and grow wiser day by day, and year by year. God’s wisdom is limitless.
